In Indianapolis, at the very heart of the Mass Ave Arts and Theater District in Chatham Arch, you’ll find the well-known venue Theater on the Square. Founded in 1988, the theater was originally located in another Indianapolis historic neighborhood, Fountain Square. Originally an eighty seat playhouse with a single performance space, the theater outgrew its first home after five years and was relocated to 627 Massachusetts Avenue, a mere half block from Chatham Square. Theatre on the Square (TOTS) now boasts two stages and produces classic and new plays and musicals year round. Stage Two is an intimate cabaret style setting with tables, chairs and bar stools and seats sixty while the Christel DeHaan Main Stage, with comfortable new traditional theater seating, accommodates 120 patrons.

A minimum of ten shows per year are produced on both stages and include plays, musicals and guest-artist shows. To date, TOTS has produced over 250 plays and musicals and participates as both a venue and producer for the annual Indianapolis Fringe Festival.
